Grandson of two painters and the son of another, Galen Mercer has been painting most of his life. Working primarily in oils and watercolors, he has built a diverse body of work that encompasses landscape, sporting scenes, still life, urban views and portraiture. Having spent nearly three decades living beside rivers, these are often featured in his art and are among the subjects closest to his heart. Of his painting, the esteemed sportsman and author, Guy de la Valdene says: ” Galen Mercer’s paintings overflow with style and character. His preferences are flawless. This is a young master with a long future ahead of him.”
He and his wife Jaimie live by the Battenkill River in Arlington, Vermont, where he makes his present studio. Commissions are accepted.
