Peter Corbin grew up in a home filled with fly rods, shotguns, Labrador retrievers and the sporting art of A. B. Frost. His father presented him with his first shotgun at tender age of six. It was a Harrington Richards with hammers. His father allowed him to have shells for the gun at the age of nine after he had walked with it empty in the field for three full seasons and gun safety had become second nature. He was trout fishing with flies at eight and caught his first Atlantic Salmon, a grilse on the Miramichi, at ten. He started painting and drawing wildlife at twelve.

Peter studied art both painting and sculpting at Pomfret School, Wesleyan University where he received his BA with High Honors in Art, and the California College of Arts and Crafts. His studies led him to abstract expressionism, monumental constructionist sculpture and jewelry design. His traveling took him to British Columbia, The American West, Europe and Africa.

At twenty-eight with his new bride's encouragement he left a five year job in the jewelry business to paint sporting art full time. Now fifty-four Peter has not looked back.

Painting principally commissions for over twenty-five years Peter has traveled and painted scenes through out North America. He has also done paintings of Belize, Scotland, Kenya and Botswana. His two favorite places remain the salmon rivers of the Gaspe Peninsula in Quebec and the flats of the Florida Keys.
